Our journey into the world of cosmetics is more than just a business; it's a cherished legacy born from the hands of a passionate beautician, my mother, Immaculée Murekatete. The name "Kijate" itself is an acronym, a tribute to my mother, whose influence and spirit echoes through every product we offer.
Hailing from a small salon in Africa, my mother's expertise in beauty became my earliest inspiration. As a little girl, I was enamored by the artistry of her makeup techniques and the allure of the products and tools she used.
As a young girl, I was enthralled by the weekly beauty rituals that we later on kept as a tradition with my sister, experimenting with an array of products we found at home. Those early memories of homemade concoctions mayonnaise-based hair masks, honey-infused face masks—crafted by my mother, linger as a testament to the roots of our skincare legacy
The introduction to clay masks was another pivotal moment, a beauty tradition passed down from my mother. In our household, she always had a substantial pot of powdered clay, meticulously creating masks that became a symbol of purity and simplicity. This profound connection to clay masks has left an indelible mark, inspiring our inaugural product range at Kijate.
